Well It’s Not the Caribbean—Merry Christmas from Indonesia

Merry Christmas!! I hope you all have a wonderful time with family and friends. See below for how I spent my Christmas. Yes–found a tree!!

I went to church with the neighbors across the street (2.5 hours I do not know a single Presbyterian that would last that long at home). Presbyterian Church. I knew the rituals. Same as ours. Had communion. I think the blood was really cough syrup–tasted terrible. Mable Johnson would just die!!

When church is over the preacher starts a line at the front of the church. The first person to shake his hand gets in line behind him until everyone in the church is in line and everyone shakes hands. I met everyone. Four police were stationed outside for safety–just like home! Must be difficult for him, wife, and kid, they are the only protestants in their family.

The Bible verses they read were–Matthew 2: 1-12, Luke 2: 15-20, John 15: 9-17

After church the neighbors asked me to join them for Christmas lunch. I had a good time. Grandmother (87 years old) is next to me in blue. She grabbed me by the hand and did not want to let go. She sat next to me when we ate–in a chair. We ate on the floor. Soup with noodles and a boiled egg. They have a Christmas tree!

The daughter loves animals so they have cats (8 total)–the kittens are called 4G–because their names all start with G. After the photo, the grandmother told me I am fat (translated by the daughter)–maybe so, but I think she meant tall or at least that is what I am going with. I am the tallest person everywhere I go.

I asked about presents, but they said they do not give presents.
