August 22-September 1

I am realizing just how much work a blog can be. I went into this thinking I would post something everyday. Wow that was a false dream. Way toooo much work. I have stuff to write about, but not enough time. With this post I will share my Italy experiences.

I was in Italy for a conference August 22-September 1. Food and wine were amazing–of course. I will share a few adventures. Spent the day in Rome. Was good–had been before.

Clet is a famous sign artist in Florence. I found 34 of his signs and visited his studio–saw him he was there. Below are a few of the signs I spotted.

Next was Florence and Tuscany. Amazing. If you go check out the following:

Spent the day traveling around Tuscany. Climbed the Leaning Tower of Pisa and of course held it up. Visited a winery–amazing!! If you are around Tuscany you MUST stop and try Gelateria del Dondoli at Piazza della Cisterna 4 (4,625.38 mi) San Gimignano 53037. Voted best gelato in the world.

Of course in Florence I went to the Florence Academia to see David–he is much larger than I imagined! I climbed up to the famous Duomo (over 400 steps).

In the Duomo is a painting of the Last Judgement and was painted by Brunelleschi.

For good luck while you are in Florence you should visit the Fontana del Porcellino (Bronze Boar). For good luck you put a coin/your hand in his mouth and rub his nose.

Spent a few days in Bologna for the conference. I presented a paper about how families interact in a stingray exhibit. Was a good conference. If you get to Bologna, visit the Fontana di Nettuno (Fountain of Neptune).

Yep! I went to Venice. One day was enough. I spoke to several people who said something similar. Of course, a gondola ride is a must. Some of them sing, if you are into singing.
