Oct 1 (2022) Dora the Explorer: Back on Duty!!!! Hello Sumatra!!

Signing on! On my way to Sumatra!! Finishing my research!

I worry about leaving my family. Momma has Alzheimer’s. Daddy is her primary caretaker. Tammy and Betsy (my sisters) are left to help out. I feel I am abandoning them. I worry about leaving Mike. He needs me. I worried about leaving Cooper (my dog—see picture I took this morning). I worry he will not know me when I return. Do they need me or is it my ego that makes me think they need me.

Saying Goodby to Cooper
So sad to say goodbye to my baby!

Tim Callicutt (taught with him at Trinity High School) told me to follow my path and as I did I would meet people following the same path or supporting my path. He was right! Many people (other than family) emailed or texted to say they are thinking about me and supporting me—including many amazing, supportive women. If I miss someone, I apologize.

Dr. Buttke—Cooper’s vet

Chad—know him from Carolina Biological

Dorothy—worked with her at Bennett College

Dru—Mike’s ex-stepmother

Terri—works at the Charlotte Admirals Club

Tim—from Carolina Biological

Tori—I met her on a flight to Greensboro

Sandra—worked with her at CVS and UNCG

Talley—work with her at CSU

Tony—my main man in Little River

Well—ego, worry, love, the decision is made. I will continue this adventure in Sumatra and see it to the end. My hope is to save some part of Sumatra while I struggle to save some part of myself.

I hope you will follow my journey!

    • So glad to see you on here! I miss seeing you when I am home. I loved going to the store to see you. He will love seeing you commented. I think he is trying to tell people so they will make comments. I think he feels bad no one looks at it.
