I flew from Jakarta to Bengkulu yesterday. This is the rainy season. The roof leaks at the airport and everywhere there was a leak of course they put up a caution–wet floor–sign. But this is different. Every sign had a beautiful plant sitting somewhere near by. They put the plants out to catch the water–instead of buckets!! Genius–absolutely genius!!! The plants are beautiful and way better than a bucket.

I love this because of the term plant blindness, which I have written about in my research. Plant blindness–our lack of noticing the plants around us and appreciating them for their beauty and usefulness. As children we recognize animals as being alive before we see and understand plants. Maybe putting these plants right in the middle of the floor is a step!
