Quickie today. Just home from walking to the store. The bill was 61,700 rupiah. I gave the girl (who was very young) 101,700 rupiah. She gave me back 38,000 rupiah. I told her that was not correct. The young boy next to me in line spoke a little English. He asked if he could help. I explained to him what happened. He did not understand either and thought she was correct. I asked for my money back. I took out the 1,700 and gave her just the 100,000. Because she put 100,000 in the register as the amount before I gave her the money, she had no idea what to do. Do you know the answer without a calculator? If you can answer this math question, then you must be old like me.

Not much different than home. Rarely, can I find someone in a store at home who can do this. When I got back to the house I thought–this is not a lot of money I should have walked away and not said anything.
